G1G1 – Get One, Give One

A smarter, more sustainable way to create impact

G1G1 (Get One, Give One) is Sam’s Spares’ NEW sustainable impact model, designed to move beyond short-term charity and build lasting social and environmental outcomes.

At its core, G1G1 connects technology reuse, ethical employment, and financial sustainability into one transparent system.

G1G1 – Get One. Give One.

Same device. Same quality. One-for-one.

Buy a refurbished device from Sam’s Spares and we donate a second device of the same quality and specifications to someone in genuine need.

No downgrade.
No leftovers.
Just fairness, built in.

How It Works

You buy one device
↓
We match it one-for-one
↓
Someone in need receives the same quality device, free

That’s G1G1.

Why It Matters

  • People in need deserve quality technology, not hand-me-downs

  • Neurodivergent people deserve real, paid work, not token roles

  • Charity should be sustainable, not exhausting

G1G1 delivers all three, every single time.

What Your Purchase Supports

  • A refurbished device for you

  • A matched, like-for-like device for someone in need

  • Paid, meaningful employment for neurodivergent individuals

  • Less e-waste through responsible reuse

One choice. Multiple outcomes.

This Is Not a Promotion. It’s a System.

G1G1 is how Sam’s Spares turns everyday purchases into lasting impact, without compromising quality, dignity, or fairness.

Why We Changed Our Model

For many years, Sam’s Spares operated as a traditional charity, refurbishing donated technology and gifting it free of charge to people in need. The impact was real, and the community response was overwhelming.

But behind the scenes, the model was fragile.

As demand grew, so did the pressure on a small team relying heavily on goodwill and personal sacrifice. Giving everything away, all the time, was not sustainable, for the organisation, or for the people behind it.

At the same time, we kept hearing the same question from our community:
“Can we buy refurbished technology from you to support what you do?”

People didn’t just want to donate. They wanted to participate.

G1G1 — Get One, Give One — was created to make that participation possible while protecting what mattered most.

The Role of Impact100

Thanks to the support of the Impact100 community, Sam’s Spares has been able to employ a dedicated Sales and Program Manager for the first 12 months to properly launch the G1G1 model.

This role exists to build the systems, oversee matched donations, support customers and partners, and ensure the program is implemented with integrity from day one.

Having the right person in place allows us to launch G1G1 properly, without overloading volunteers or compromising the quality, fairness, or dignity at the heart of the program.

A Change That Protects Our Purpose

This shift allows Sam’s Spares to:

  • keep quality technology free for people in genuine need

  • provide paid, meaningful employment for neurodivergent individuals

  • operate responsibly within the circular economy

  • and build a model that doesn’t rely on burnout to survive

This isn’t a step away from our mission. It’s a step deeper into it.

We didn’t change because the old model lacked heart.
We changed so that the heart of Sam’s Spares could keep beating, sustainably.

G1G1 exists so generosity can last, for the people receiving support, and the people doing the work.
